Do you enjoy working with people? Are you passionate about supporting people? Do you have a skill in arts and crafts? This could be the role for you.
Better Futures are looking for someone with arts and crafts skills to support their members during a weekly craft group. The group will run once a week for 2 hours between 11am and 3pm (date and time to be agreed)
All materials will be paid for and your travel expenses will be reimbursed. You will also receive full training and an induction.
Main Tasks:
1. Providing support to staff to run weekly art and craft workshops
2. Assisting with the planning of interesting and enjoyable, age appropriate activities
3. Providing support to members to participate and develop skills
4. Assisting staff to maintain a clean and safe environment
5. Supporting members to engage with one another and develop social skills
Better Futures is a support service for adults age 18+ with a learning disability.
They provide support, information and advice on day to day issues and help individuals to develop the skills to further independence through a range of groups, workshops and activities.
Improving Lives Plymouth has been supporting people in Plymouth since 1907 with information, advice and practical support.

As a volunteer you will require good listening skills and will be a good communicator
A keen interest in arts and crafts
Knowledge of supporting adults with a learning disability would be an advantage but is not essential.
